What to Wear with a Red Dress

What To Wear With A

Red Dress

WHENEVER FRIDAY HITS and I have plans for the evening, I find that I ask myself an age-old question. What do I wear?! And I know you ladies know what I’m talking about!

I’d love to share some of my ideas with you! Here we go…let’s style that striking red dress!

Red Dress for a Friday Madness ...

As I sit here and write this I have one thought: it’s Friday baby! The week is almost over and I’m excited to head out for happy hour to celebrate a friend’s birthday, nosh on some chips and sip a margarita.

Well tonight, the air will be crisp and I’ll be laughing the evening away with some awesome girlfriends. I want to feel fresh, confident and alive. For these reasons, I think I’ll be turning to my red dress for the healthy dose of glam and fun that I’m looking for.

Like I said, the air will be crisp. So I am also thinking about just how I am going to style my red dress.

Try a Simple Snazzy Scarf

PLUM FEATHERS Cashmere Winter Scarf

All right girls. Like I said, I’m headed out for a cool, crisp evening on the town. I am already a little cold-blooded so a scarf is the perfect companion for my red dress.

If you’re rocking a solid red dress, try a scarf with a fun pattern. If your dress has a lot going on, go for a solid color. Personally, I love a deep navy with a red dress.

Scarves are great accessories no matter the weather. You can wear a really lightweight option when the temperature is warmer or throw on a knit scarf to keep your warm on those cooler days and evenings.

No matter how you choose to do it, a scarf and red dress are a classic duo that will leave you feeling trendy and chic.

These Boots Were Made for Walking

If you haven’t yet, check out our article on what SHOES go with a red dress. We share lots of our favorite options.

But here I want to mention just one. BOOTS! Try an ankle bootie in brown or black. This is a fun and laid back look that adds a little funky texture to your outfit.

Personally, I would also throw on a denim jacket to complete this look! Hmm…this just might be how I style my red dress this evening!

Hat's Off to You!

NYFASHION101 Fedora Hat

Let’s talk about hats. I am not a girl that typically rocks a hat. But that’s not to say that I don’t love when I see other bold and stylish women having a chic hat moment. And a classy hat could be the perfect way to accessorize your red dress.

Personally, I would recommend choosing a color hat that contrasts the color of your hair. So if you’re blonde, go for a darker color hat. And if you’re brunette, vice versa!

Rock a Belt - It's a Cinch!

A belt is a really fun way to glam up your look. It also has a great slimming affect by cinching your waist.

You can really get creative when choosing a belt to wear. You could keep it classic with a brown leather or black leather belt. OR you could spice it up with a bright, contrasting color.

Maybe a bright blue or a lemony yellow. The options are endless and this accessory will really add some fun to your styled look!

Add Drama with a Statement Necklace

JANE STONE Statement Necklace

Never underestimate the power of a great statement necklace. Whether you choose a bright aqua blue or a more understated copper tone, a necklace is an awesome way to spice up an outfit.

This is particularly true if you’re wearing a solid color red dress. In this case, the necklace with just pop even more and give off a funky yet sophisticated look.

Necklaces are also great options because they are easy to mix and match with other outfits. They elevate an outfit to the next level and can take your wardrobe further than you thought possible.

All right, my dear ones. That’s pretty much all I have. What do you think? How would you accessorize or style your red dress? Do you like the suggestions above?

There are truly endless ways to take your red dress to the next level. Don’t forget to have fun with your look and try new things.

Throw on a necklace, a scarf or a hat. Maybe these aren’t looks you wear everyday – and that’s ok! But, who knows, maybe you’ll find a new staple for your wardrobe by stepping out in your red dress!
